in 1970, Tom Watson was the up anf coming golfer on the PGA Tour. But time after time, when Tom led a tournament coming inti the last round, he would choke, bogey a few holes and finish in the middle of the pack.
Soon the media call hima "choker", which only increased the pressure and his tendency to choke.
In interview with Guy Yacoom for Golf Diggest,Watson said,"Everybody has choked. in 1974 US Open, i kept hitting the ball to the right. My nerves wouldn't allowme to adjust. That's what choking is, being so nervous you can't find a swing or putting stroke you can trust."
How did Watson overcome his problem?
"Brysan Nelson, the legendary golf pro on 1930s and 1940s, gave me the best cure for it,"Watson recalled. Brysan said,"Walk slowly, talk slowly, deliberately do everything more slowly than you normally do. I has a way of settling you down."
This advice help Tom Watson to overcome his nervous. He went on to win many tournaments, including 5 British opens.
We all fail one to another. it's part of the process that leads us to maturity and success. Most successful enterpreanure have been through a number of failure in life, but usually they don't think their failure as defeat. They think of them as lesson.
Failing does not make you a failure.
